Flint Creek

Painting from last summer that I never posted. My first and only, uh, plein-aire study, if you can call it that. I'm an impatient doofus when it comes to mixing colors, so instead I just took all my paints out into the field and used straight from the tube. And at first I was proud of this, and liked it, and then I started studying color theory more and began to hate this because I didn't even try to make a unified palette and what kind of idiot artist doesn't attempt to mix colors and what were you trying to do, Christina, impressionism? Well you failed. You need more patience because this painting is an abomination, an even bigger abomination than that horrid run-on sentence you just wrote. You need more patience so that you can actually work on details, not white blobs that you call butterflies.

But then I looked at it again, and heck, I still like it. :tongue: So I post it now! Yay!

...And next time I attempt painting from life, I shall do a closeup of a flower or something.
